Subhajit is a very positive thinking and solution-oriented person.

“To be able to concentrate for a considerable time is essential to difficult achievement.” – Bertrand Russell

Subhajit is a very positive thinking and solution-oriented person. Rather than hunting for the origin of the problem, Subhajit is a person who would try to debug the solution. Subhajit’s motto in life is – “if winter comes, can spring be far behind?”, drives him through all his problems. Pursuing a PhD from a reputed central institute, Subhajit is 26-years-old and grew up enjoying painting as a kid. Other than painting, Subhajit also likes to go on tours, short or long. Cricket is a sport that Subhajit always found interesting and he has his wings extended for anything new that comes his way.

“In the lab, many times things do not work out and fail after a week’s work and I have to start from scratch all over again. It hurts.”

This 26-year-old doesn't only have an extremely positive outlook toward life but also loves to help those in need.

Living by the motto of “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”, this is the story of a Physics geek, Subhajit. This 26-year-old doesn’t only have an extremely positive outlook toward life but also loves to help those in need.

Subhajit always likes to keep himself busy through various activities such as painting, learning new musical instruments, reading, playing cricket and much more. Calling himself a true Global citizen, Subhajit is currently pursuing his PhD in Physics from a reputed university. As a doctorate scholar, Subhajit has to get buried in books and lab work. Before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Subhajit often used to visit various cities, owing to conferences and seminars. But, after the lockdown, he became captivated by four walls and a computer screen.

“I got Covid and I felt my life changed post that. I started noticing a lag in my work and the tiredness never went away. Me being somewhat of a nerd, I always feel very very unhappy if a day passes by, with me not doing anything.”

By the time Subhajit would finish washing his dishes with such exhausting health, he would be left with minimum time and concentration to devote to his work.

As Subhajit describes himself as a person who keeps himself indulged in studies, the days passing by in an unproductive manner was bothering him intensely. During the Covid, Subhajit was confined to his hostel room. Although he had his friends around who supported him, loneliness prevailed in his mind. Being away from his family was the main reason behind this feeling. The Covid had left him weak and with a lack of concentration which made him inefficient and nervous at the same time.

“Even after doing small tasks for myself, I was getting tired. There were some other personal issues which were also attended to.”

Subhajit was getting tired after doing small-small tasks with covid protocols maintained. He had to eat cautiously, fetch his food from the canteen and warm it on his own. By the time Subhajit would finish washing his dishes with such exhausting health, he would be left with minimum time and concentration to devote to his work.

“I did not think of YourDOST as a set of counselors as such, but rather as some friends who are ready to just lend an ear to your problems.”

Madhurima took Subhajit through an enlisting process of dividing his work according to three segments.

Subhajit got in touch with Madhurima Das via audio calls. Madhurima took Subhajit through an enlisting process of dividing his work according to three segments. He was advised to dedicate a maximum of 3-4 hours of work in each segment so that he had more concentration to input. He was also able to perform this task better with the support of his PhD guide who understood his condition.

“I am thankful to Madhurima as well as my guide. I was finally able to pre plan my day and manage my work-life balance better.”

Subhajit had broken through the tough time. He was finally able to complete his day with satisfaction. Subhajit feels thankful to YourDOST for running such an initiative and believes that it will soon play a huge part in eradicating social stigma. Subhajit clearly says that in some way, just talking helps and he rates his overall improvement through counseling with a 4.5 out of 5. We at YourDOST feel delighted to see him regain his concentration and progress accordingly. We wish him luck in his future endeavours.

Subhajit’s Warrior Tips:
1. Just talking to someone helps. All problems do not have an immediate solution, but just
opening up to someone, known or unknown, really helps.
2. Don’t wait for long for a small problem to eat you up.
