Healing Heartbreak: Devyash’s Tale Of Being The Phoenix Bird In His Life’s Story

4 minutes

Devyash, a 21-year-old student pursuing a B.A Honours in Psychology at the esteemed O.P. Jindal University had a life-changing story to share with us.

He hails from Uttar Pradesh, and cherished memories of a delightful childhood. Having grown up in teh comfort of his lovable family he had the opportunity to stay curious and keep his inner child alive.

His love for collecting fragrances and perfume bottles has always been a part of his coping mechanism as he finds it therapeutic.

His hobbies include sports and observing people and his environment as he enjoys sitting down and practising reflection.

Devyash mentioned that he heard about YourDOST through his college and he wanted to give therapy a try as he was going through a break-up then.

“I met Ms. Anjali Jain, my counselor after booking my first session on the platform. Meeting her for the first time felt like a comforting embrace around me.”

He explained that speaking with her felt natural as he was able to relate with her culturally and religiously. The conversation was at ease and there was a minimal effort that she had to put into counseling him as they vibed very well in the initial session itself.

Devyash mentioned that he had an open conversation with his counselor and explained about his break-up which then paved the way to healthy dialogues creating a safe space for him.

“I wanted to move past my breakup, and it was becoming difficult. I knew I needed help, especially with acceptance.”

Speaking of his break-up put him through a mausoleum of memories, it did hurt him but that is when healing begins. As people, we sometimes get into the shadows of his desolation, and healing almost feels impossible. Most of the time we restrict ourselves from going through the journey of healing journey simply because of the fear of coming to terms with reality.

The vista of a long-distance relationship started making him feel uncertain of its future, he mainly needed help to fight over this fear. His counselor after a series of conversations made him realise that things needed to change, especially with how he perceived everything.

He explained that if he did not reach out to help then nobody is going to come to him to help out. They spent 4-5 years together and things stopped moving for him after she left.

“There was always a risk involved as we were in a long-distance relationship. Going and meeting her in her city was all that I could do, but we had to be super cautious doing that as our families knew each other.”

Devyash described that his counselor asked him to cut ties with her as it would only then initiate his healing journey. Keeping her in his life would only hamper his happiness. He did everything his counselor taught him, and while it took some time and a lot of effort he still managed to do it.

The transition was worth it is what he felt after letting himself go through the process of change and allowing counseling and the techniques his counselor suggested with to work wonders in his life.

“I feel sorted and know how to handle issues that I once struggled with. Ms. Anjali helped me by identifying the root cause of my problem and I felt empowered.”

Devyash is in a much better space mentally living life king-size. He has been able to actively work on himself and also his mental health and we are supremely proud of his journey.

Just like how a Phoenix’s natural ability is to die and be reborn from its ashes, Devyash is the phoenix bird in his story who underwent these difficulties and still emerged strong and victorious.

In terms of feeling better on a scale of 1 to 5, he rated himself with a 4 and we all hail the Pheonix he is, all ready to flap his courageous wings into the brave new world.

Devyash’s Warrior Tips:
1.“Accept that something is wrong and always remember to get help when you need to. This will change so much for you and those around you. ”
