This quote is how we can summarise the story of Ayush, a Delhi-born 32-year-old who made his way into the PGDM course in XLRI with sheer determination.
A happy childhood reflects a happy and contented life. Ayush describes his childhood as the happiest phase of his life. He was encouraged to pursue his passions and academics from a young age.
Being an only child of his parents, he grew up in the comfort and warmth that he received from all of his family. He describes his home as his safety net and the ultimate comfort zone.
During a time when the whole world was gripped under the clutches of the COVID-19 pandemic, students like Ayush suffered the wrath of the era. Preparing for the CAT examinations, attending interviews and getting into a reputed institution like XLRI during the pandemic had several adverse effects on the students.
“Being a part of the first COVID batch of XLRI and doing an MBA from home seemed unfair to me. It was a difficult concept to get used to as no one was equipped at the time to do so.”
At a time when students were supposed to learn and interact with each other on campus, the pandemic pushed them to stay indoors and complete their MBAs through a screen.
Ayush was introduced to YourDOST through his institution, and that came as a breath of fresh air. He met his therapist on the platform, who led him on a path of understanding life in a better way.
“The uncertainty, the fear of missing out on all the experiences that our seniors had, the events that were cancelled all got to my head and confused me about my thoughts.”
Ayush turned to therapy to gain a fresh perspective from another person’s viewpoint of the whole situation and analyse his emotions based on that.
The primary point of improvement for Ayush was communication. The lack of face-to-face interactions, and college life made him uncomfortable about communicating with his peers.
His therapist helped him with several activities and techniques that helped him make a conscious effort to communicate with his batchmates.
“I was really superficial when I talked to my therapist for the first time, and now I’m eternally grateful to her for making sense out of my words and helping me out.”
Ayush’s concept of improvement revolves around the desire to get better every day. He rates his progression a 3.5/5 and we at YourDOST are positive that he’s on the right track and will gradually conquer the golden 5 in no time!
Ayush’s Warrior Tips:
1.“Opening up to a neutral third party about personal problems always gives a fresh perspective on it.”
2.“Give therapy a shot and derive all the benefits you can have.”
