Mayank’s Journey of Self-Awareness and Growth With YourDOST

Mayank Manohar is a 32-year-old dedicated employee of Capillary. He works as a content and partner operations manager. A calm and observant individual, Mayank is known among his colleagues for being thoughtful, empathetic, and committed to his responsibilities, both professionally and personally.

He hails from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and explains that he moved around a lot during his early life as his father was a chief medical officer. Mayank adds that he has changed six institutes throughout his school life.

He began his career in IBS Pune immediately after completing his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering and an MBA through campus placement. After his father passed away in 2016, his family includes his mom, who is working in the district hospital in the place of his father and his younger sister, who is pursuing her final year in MBBS from Kathmandu, Nepal.

“The three of us are very close to each other and share everything from life events to deep emotions with each other. It is the major philosophy of our family.”

Mayank identifies himself as an avid motorcyclist and feels passionate about adventures and travels. He also loves to run and trek as he finds them refreshing. As someone who has always valued learning and growth, Mayank found himself drawn to the mental health workshops and seminars offered by YourDOST in collaboration with Capillary.

These sessions weren’t just another tick-box initiative for him. He saw them as opportunities to explore his emotional well-being and gain tools that could help him navigate life with greater clarity.

“I wasn’t going through any particular crisis, but I always felt that there were areas of emotional health I hadn’t explored fully. The workshops gave me that space.”

Mayank says that the sessions helped him reflect on a past time. Before he joined Capillary, he spent six months searching for opportunities. Understanding his emotions provided him with valuable insights and helped him find closure regarding the struggles he faced during that phase.

From stress management to emotional regulation and mindfulness, the workshops also covered a variety of topics. For Mayank, the turning point was when he began to understand the underlying patterns behind his emotions, particularly at work during high-pressure scenarios and when he was feeling out of his comfort zone.

He reflects on how those sessions made him more aware of his thoughts and emotions and helped him become less reactive.

“The facilitator explained that emotional health is not only about how we feel when we’re down, but also how we handle success, pressure, or even conflict. That stayed with me.”

He began to notice a positive shift in how mental health was being perceived within his circle, thanks to these interactions and increased awareness about well-being.

“I realised that a lot of us were dealing with similar emotions, but didn’t know how to talk about them. The workshops gave us a vocabulary for those conversations and resonated with me.”

Today, Mayank stands as a strong advocate for mental health support in the workplace. He believes that when organisations take the initiative to provide such safe spaces, it empowers individuals to function with authenticity and resilience.

“After one session, I also shared a mindfulness technique with my sister during her stressful exams, and it brought us even closer as we navigated our challenges together.”

He elaborates that recently, he also realised that there would be no need for work-stress and work-life imbalance if we do what we love and enjoy the work we do every day. This enabled him to approach his mental blocks in a much more straightforward and rational manner.

He continues to engage with YourDOST resources and encourages others to attend sessions, not just when they are struggling, but also to maintain their mental well-being proactively. He explains that he views therapy as a powerful tool for addressing issues of any magnitude.

He thanks the experts on the platform for bringing in their knowledge to help people with practical ways and making it easy for him to take care of his mental well-being.

As he improves his life step by step, he rates himself 4.5 out of 5 in terms of feeling better. We are proud of Mayank for not only embarking on this journey himself but also for becoming a positive influence in his workplace community.

Mayank Manohar’s Warrior Tips:
1.“Never undermine yourself; you should be your superhero for life. Be confident in your capabilities.”
2.“If you find yourself struggling, reach out to a mental health professional instead of sitting with your negative thoughts.”
