“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill.
Overcoming personal challenges is like climbing a mountain. It takes time, effort, and the right guidance to reach the top. Once you start climbing up, several challenges may come your way and bear you down. However, always remember that the decision to climb the high range was your own and no matter what, you should succeed in doing that even if it takes a little help, here and there.
Today we bring you the story of Sidharth (name changed), a 21-year-old student pursuing a BBA at Indian Academy and was born and raised in Bangalore.
He lives with his close-knit nuclear family and enjoys researching, reading articles, and binge-watching Netflix in his free time.
“Unlike a lot of people, I don’t have physical hobbies, but I love learning new things through articles and documentaries.”
Sidharth first heard about YourDOST through his college, which partners with them as their official mental health provider. He sought help for his procrastination and lack of focus and met his counsellor, Ms Tulika Mukherjee.
“I remember how Tulika was extremely empathetic and understanding towards me from the very first session. She changed how I thought about things and helped reduce my overthinking.”
Procrastination has always been a big issue for Sidharth. He admitted that he was lazy and never bothered to change his ways out of the ordinary. He missed out on many opportunities because of it.
“I reached my turning point when I had paid for a gym membership beforehand but never bothered to attend it. The realisation hit me hard that I couldn’t keep living this way, turned to therapy for help.”
Tulika’s approach was practical and easy to follow. She taught him to convince his brain differently and instead of putting pressure on himself with strict schedules, he focused on consistency and discipline in a more flexible way. Tulika taught him affirmations like I am going to the gym, I will do some workouts today, I will make my day productive, which helped him overcome his procrastination.
“Her techniques were simple and effective. She understood my perspective, which made a huge difference.”
Sidharth started seeing small but gradual progress in his ways and felt happier and lighter. He began feeling a little less lethargic with each passing day and started devoting his time to doing many more productive activities.
“I felt heard and understood in my therapy sessions. Tulika’s listening skills and personalised techniques played a significant role in my progress and I had seen several counsellors, but she was the best of them all. I am eternally grateful to her for everything she has done for me.”
Today, Sidharth rates himself a 4 out of 5 in terms of feeling better. He understands that therapy isn’t about finding an instant solution but about gaining clarity and exploring new perspectives.
YourDOST is confident that Sidharth is on his way to reaching the golden 5 mark and wishes him luck in all his future endeavours!
Sidharth Warrior Tips:
1.“When you’re struggling, whether it’s anxiety, depression, or any other issue, it’s better to seek counselling or share your thoughts with someone.”
2.“It’s not always about finding a solution immediately. Sharing helps you explore the problem, and eventually, you might find the solution.”
