Healing Through Therapy and Navigating Fear: This is Rushik’s Story

4 minutes

Rushik is a 25-year-old, born and raised in the vibrant state of Gujarat. It had been three eventful years since he courageously stepped into the bustling city of Vadodara, leaving behind the serenity of his hometown. His decision to pursue an MBA led him to the breathtaking landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, where his perspective of the world expanded in 360 degrees. Upon completing his post-graduation, he joined Vinculum, diving into the professional world with an open heart and curious mind.

Though his childhood was filled with love and care from his family, his father’s overseas work often left a void in his presence. Amidst this, his elder brother became his confidant, while his grandparents and beloved pets added warmth and joy to his upbringing.

When not absorbed in the corporate world, he found solace in his hobbies of drawing, reading books, and playing games, allowing his mind to wander through creativity and relaxation. The challenges began to surface as he grappled with fear, for as an introvert, interacting with colleagues and confronting heated conversations became daunting.

The mounting pressure at work, coupled with the isolating effects of the pandemic, led him to feel alone and unable to showcase his efforts to his manager. This internal battle resulted in procrastination and a sense of overwhelming anxiety, prompting him to seek solace and support.

It was during this turbulent time that he was introduced to YourDOST through his organization, a revelation that would pave the way for his healing journey.

Under the guidance of the empathetic counselor, Ms. Ankita Chabbra, he began to untangle the knots of his emotions through Socratic thinking and journaling.
Slowly, he started to realize the power of therapy in managing his anxiety and navigating through the labyrinth of work pressure.

“I still use the techniques she taught me and I’ve kept it in my phone to refer to when I need, he shared, reflecting on his journey of growth and healing.

The healing journey bore fruits of positive changes in his life. The soothing audio files of breathing exercises shared by his counselor became his anchor, helping him refocus and recalibrate during moments of distress.

“I found it to be very useful,” he confessed, cherishing this newfound tool in his emotional arsenal. With greater mindfulness and self-awareness, he learned to intercept his anxiety, effectively halting its spiralling impact.

Gratitude poured from his heart as he reflected on the transformation propelled by therapy, “Thank you for helping me to learn to deal with your emotions better,” he expressed with a spark of newfound resilience.

The warrior within him emerged stronger, offering a few invaluable sage tips to those walking a similar path. “If you are not comfortable sharing things, at least begin by sharing those that you are comfortable speaking about first,” he advised, urging others to embark on their healing journey with gentleness and patience.

For him, improvement had become synonymous with surpassing his past self, a powerful testament to his ongoing commitment to growth and progress.

With a beaming sense of accomplishment, he reflected on his journey, rating his progress as a resounding 5 out of 5.

The power of therapy had become his guiding beacon, illuminating the path through the labyrinth of fear and uncertainty. As he continued to tread forward, his heart brimmed with hope, resilience, and a newfound belief in the power of healing and self-transformation.

In terms of feeling better on a scale of 1 to 5, he rated himself with a golden 5 and we are equally proud of his growth.

Rushik’s Warrior Tips:
1. “If you are not comfortable sharing things at least begin by sharing those that you are comfortable speaking about first.”
2.“Focus on the present moment and how you can learn from the past.”
