Rajiv Says “If You Feel Anxious, Speak Up and Share”.

4 minutes

I had started to get triggered and anxious often that was affecting my lifestyle as a whole.

“Anxiety and insecurity often go hand-in-hand. It’s difficult to increase your self-esteem when everything makes you anxious.” – Anonymous.

Sometimes life takes us through certain situations where the only way out is to speak out. Such is the story of Rajiv (Name Changed) Kukreja who is in his early 20’s and was born and brought up in Kota, Rajasthan. He is currently working in an organisation based in Pondicherry. He secured a degree in mechanical engineering from one of the prestigious NITs. Growing up, Rajiv enjoyed travelling and watching movies.

During his studies, by mid-year of 2019, Rajiv started to notice certain changes in his behaviour that made him feel quite concerned. The reason behind this phenomenon was a frequent rejection in placement interviews. Soon, Rajiv found himself getting affected by these rejections with a reflection of the same in his overall life.

“I had started to get triggered and anxious often that was affecting my lifestyle as a whole.”

Even though his friends were warm and affectionate towards Rajiv, he still sensed a feeling of incompleteness.

Rajiv didn’t let this feeling stay put and decided to talk to his friends. Even though his friends were warm and affectionate towards Rajiv, he still sensed a feeling of incompleteness. He needed healing. From an inadequacy in sleep schedule to always being hyper, Rajiv was going through some tough times within him.

“I always felt restless, anxious and my appetite reduced drastically followed by vomiting sensations. I wasn’t able to focus on anything so much so that it got difficult for me to even sit in exams.”

Although Rajiv had a fear about the idea of therapy, he was very open to the idea of counseling. Rajiv got acquainted with various counselors on different sessions from YourDOST – his institute’s emotional wellness partner. He was craving to find ways to get out of that trap that he was experiencing. Soon, Rajiv found the right counselor, Ms Ishita Attri.

“My first impression of my counselor and YourDOST was good. The techniques suggested by her to improve my focus and overall lifestyle worked very well for me.”

Rajiv was suggested a couple of techniques that would help him improvise on his issues by Ishita.

Rajiv was suggested a couple of techniques that would help him improvise on his issues by Ishita. She guided Rajiv to perform some exercises and maintaining a healthy diet. She also suggested him good sleep with a reduction in screen usage. Eventually, Rajiv was tackling situations better. Not only was he working on being less anxious but also extended his efforts to become fitter and healthier.

“Ishita was a good listener and she knew the right techniques that helped me get better.”

Rajiv described himself as an introvert because of which he couldn’t share his problems transparently with anyone. After examining his inner conflicts, Rajiv reached a point where he saw himself standing as a better version. Being anxious and hyper was one side of his story, but being the new Rajiv with a bring it on attitude turned the tables for him entirely.

In a fun rapid fire-round with YourDOST, Rajiv rates his overall improvement and winning against anxiety 4 out of 5 stars. We at YourDOST appreciate his willpower and hunger for self improvisation.  We also wish him all the best for his future ventures.

Rajiv’s Warrior Tips:
1. If you’re feeling disturbed and can’t share it with anyone, you can go for counselor . They they know the best techniques.
2. Many people don’t have an understanding of depression. they take it as an attention-seeking act which is not right.
