Stuti Agnihotri’s Journey Of Discovering Her Direction Through Counseling

3 minutes

Stuti Agnihotri is a 24-year-old PR and marketing professional. She is a graduate in Journalism and Mass Communication from Bennett University.

Stuti explains that she has always been ambitious and highly motivated towards her interests in advertising and marketing. She adds that right after graduation, she got into an agency that manages one of the top corporations.

She elaborates that before choosing her career path, Stuti was unsure about the kind of field she wanted to pursue after school.

She recollects that during her intermediate school, she went on the internet looking for career counselors, and she came across the YourDOST platform. She explains that back then, she wasn’t entirely aware of the platform, but she gave it a try and took a few sessions. Stuti adds that the interactions helped her get guidance towards picking the right career that she desired.

As she started her education at Bennett University, Stuti became aware that she had access to the YourDOST platform through the college’s subscription.

“I was pursuing journalism and mass communication, and it had multiple specialisations. I was not sure which was to go, and being in a COVID-19 hit economy, I felt anxious, confused and misdirected about my future choices.”

She explains that the counselors understood that Stuti likes a logic-oriented approach, and they guided her in the same direction. Stuti adds that the counselor patiently answered her technical questions and understood her curiosity about knowing how therapy works, which impacted her situation.

She eventually gained trust in the process and came to believe in the experts’ knowledge. Talking to the therapist, she explains that she gained clarity of thought, and having someone listen to her empathetically made all the difference.

“The counselor gave me certain parameters which helped me analyse how confident I felt about my choices, and we also worked on gaining a temporary relief from the impact the lockdown was having on my mental health.”

She explains that, as a working professional, YourDost has also been pivotal in helping her manage stress and anger at various phases of her life. The counselor gave her some breathing and grounding techniques to calm her down and help her manage stress.

Over time, with the exposure Stuti got, she explains that she became self-sufficient in taking care of her mental health, and she thanks counselors for listening to her and guiding her.

“I have a lot of friends who are in the field of counseling, and I understand how drained the job can make you feel and how long their days can seem. I truly respect this profession as a whole and am thankful to the ones who gave that time for me.”

As Stuti becomes keen on identifying the mistakes of her past and works on resolving errors in the present to have a smooth transition into the future, she rates herself 4 out of 5 for her improvement. We are happy to see the kind of growth Stuti has gained in her life and hope to see her succeed in her future endeavours.
