“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Bhagavad Gita.
In a similar fashion, Prakhyat, 20, lived through similar experiences. Prakhyat, who is now an avid follower of Bhagavad Gita as a guidebook to his life, went through a huge trough at one point only to come out twice as strong. Prakhyat is pursuing his Btech in Computer Science Engineering for a well-renowned university.
Prakhyat was born in the place which is famous for the revolt of 1857, Meerut. He has a family of 4 and dreams to work as a Software Developer in a product based company. In his free time, Prakhyat loosens up his mind by listening to music and also focuses on his physique by working out. In a country where Computer Science is pursued out of force, Prakhyat stands tall among others to have dreams of turning his passion into a profession; coding!
“I started dating my best friend and got deeply attached to her. Within two months, she broke up with me. It tore me apart.”
Prakhyat suddenly started developing an endless series of self doubt issues. Prakhyat had been abandoned by his girlfriend because her family had rejected him as a boyfriend. As much as the break-up hurt him, Prakhyat developed a surfeit of self doubt which left him thinking low of himself. First and foremost, His confidence was overshadowed by an intense feeling of inferiority complex. Prakhyat was insecure about his height thinking it was too short according to him, and that followed an unbreakable chain of self-loathing.
“I started hating myself. My nights were filled with compulsive thoughts about me not deserving of her. I forgot how to love myself.”
Prakhyat began to lose his appetite as his self doubt was at its peak. His studies got affected and overall as a result, Prakhyat developed deep anger issues. Without wasting further time, Prakhyat decided to seek professional help.
Through his university’s resources, Prakhyat got in touch with Ms Madhurima Das, a counselor from YourDOST via chat sessions. Later on, Prakhyat moved to video sessions as he got more comfortable talking to the counselor.
“The counseling session went superbly. It worked well for me with Madhurima ma’am. She talked to me as if she were my friend, which instantly made me comfortable sharing my thoughts with her.”
Madhurima took Prakhyat through a series of techniques to get over his self doubt as well as his break-up. She advised him to adopt hobbies that would help Prakhyat stay away from negative thoughts. She also suggested Prakhyat start spending more time with his sibling or mother. This allowed him to get constant support. In fact, Prakhyat was constantly appraised by his family as being perfect however he was.
“I started dwelling on the idea of self love. I also started working out and now I have a muscular body, which helped me not feel inferior anymore.”
Prakhyat’s appetite was back on track! Prakhyat now devotes 8-10 hours of his time to studies which he thoroughly enjoys. He also describes himself as having an improved sense of humour now!
Most importantly, Ms Madhura advised him to read and follow Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita on a regular basis. Something which started as a technique to keep negative thoughts at bay has now turned into a devoted practice by Prakhyat. Not only does he thoroughly enjoy reading Gita, he also finds it a one-stop destination for all the solutions in life!
Prakhyat extends his heartfelt gratitude to Madhurima for teaching him how to live his life! Prakhyat rates his overall improvement through counseling with a straight 5 out of 5. We, at YourDOST, couldn’t feel more glad about the same and wish him the best of best for his future endeavours.
Prakhyat’s Warrior Tips:
1. Read mythological stories. Mahabharat has covered all problems in human life. This can further help anyone to fight any battles they might be facing.
2. Keep a pocket-sized Bhagavad Gita. It guides through all challenges.
