Meet Sri, a vibrant 25-year-old sales professional from Bangalore the Silicon Valley of India, pulsates with a unique blend of technology and tradition. This dynamic metropolis, famed for its lush gardens and vibrant tech hubs, thrives as a melting pot of diverse cultures. 

Renowned for its pleasant climate and bustling café culture, Bangalore epitomizes modernity while preserving its historical charm in landmarks like the Bangalore Palace.

His journey with YourDOST began four years ago, thanks to an initiative by Freshworks offering unlimited counseling sessions to its employees. A painter, and a lover of open mics, theatre, and storytelling, Sri’s life is a kaleidoscope of diverse interests.

“Growing up, I faced a challenging childhood, marked by bullying and a constant struggle with my emotions. These experiences often resurfaced, reminding me of the pain and isolation I endured. This step was crucial for me to finally start healing and prevent these past experiences from impacting my present and future.” 

Sri’s childhood and adolescence were marked by feelings of being a misfit. Growing up in a boy’s school and later, in a male-dominated mechanical engineering environment, he often found himself at odds with his surroundings. His sensitivity and emotional nature, contrasting starkly with the norm, led to bullying and labels that left deep emotional scars.

Aware of his need for emotional support, Sri proactively sought therapy upon joining Freshworks. “Mental health was my top priority,” he shares. 

“My journey with YourDOST marked my first foray into the realm of therapy, and it proved to be an enlightening experience. It was through this engagement that I gained valuable insights into what I truly needed from a therapist.” 

Sri’s experience with YourDOST was a mixture of exploration and learning. Although his initial counseling sessions did not meet his expectations, they were crucial in understanding the kind of therapeutic support he required. “I learned what to look for in a therapist,” Sri reflects.

Today, Sri stands at a significant point in his journey towards emotional mastery. He is more aware of his emotions, understanding their roots, and is actively working to change behavioral patterns. This newfound awareness is a testament to the impact of consistent mental health support and personal effort.

Sri emphasizes the importance of mental health support for everyone. He likens unaddressed mental health issues to untreated physical wounds, stressing the necessity of dealing with emotional pain before it escalates. He encourages others to seek help, assuring them that therapists are often flexible with costs and genuinely invested in their clients’ well-being.

Sri expresses gratitude for the self-awareness and insights gained through therapy. Although his journey with YourDOST had its ups and downs, it was an essential step in his larger quest for emotional health.
