IN BRIEF: In this post Professional Counsellor pens down top 10 ways Introverts can utilise their skills and behaviour to succeed in life. It is to show that being an introvert is such a powerful disposition in any aspect of life.
Psychology defines it as a personality trait and people who are introverted tend to be inward turning, or focused more on internal thoughts, feelings and moods rather than seeking out external stimulation.
Introverts are people who enjoy their company, it’s not that they do not like to socialise, it’s just they prefer a few similar people and are happy with them.
Here are some highly successful introverts; Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, J.K. Rowling and so many more. What made them so successful in life?
Here are few things which introverts do or follow to be successful in life-
1 – Accept yourself:
World Is full of extroverts and the world is more geared up towards extroversion. Since the very beginning, we are pressurised to go out and meet people, in colleges and jobs. We are implored to attend social gathering and parties, and introverts are not comfortable in doing all this. But introverts are still made to mingle with the crowd, even if it goes against every fibre of their being. Introverts like spending quite times alone doing things what they love and are good at.
2 – Don’t isolate yourself:
Introverts generally don’t like being out in a party or social gatherings, some introverts isolate themselves from the so called world, but what they actually seek is a meaningful relationships with like minded, smart people.
3 – Focus on what you have:
It is imperative to focus on your core strengths and weaknesses. Be proud of your strengths, and work on your weaknesses. It is foolish to compare yourself with someone else, regardless of the other person being an introvert or an extrovert. Also one needs to workout a plan to utilise strengths in different walks of life.
4 – Think before you move forward:
Introverts have this great quality of thinking, observing before making decisions. Which helps them to analyse situations and decide, which is generally beneficial for all.
5 – Group work:
Their openness to accept opinion of others, good listening skills, and strong belief in giving chances to others make them very suitable to work in a team or a group.
6 – Ability to work independently:
Though introverts can work quite well in groups but they can really work well if left alone as they have great internal motivation, which pushes them to work and perform well.
7 – Able to keep emotions in check:
Introverts are not very expressive therefore they spend a lot of time in analysing their emotions, thinking about situations and sort it out privately and that’s why they are seen as very calm during a conflict unlike others who might scream or shout.
8 – Out of the box thinkers:
One very unique quality of introverts are that they are out of the box thinkers, they do not follow the crowd rather make the crowd follow them. They encourage new ideas and beliefs in trying something different and new always. Also they prefer taking risks rather than trying something old.
9 – Public speaking:
Introverts are generally thought to be shy behind the stage. While it’s been found out that introverts are generally good at addressing large crowds, the reason being they come out better prepared and well researched about the subjects, also they talk about what they like so it’s less likely they will do something half-heartedly.
10 – Make their own happiness:
We all want to be happy at the end of the day, introverts are happy with themselves, especially. They enjoy their own company and like to make their own happiness in order to have control over it. They seek happiness in small things like; taking a dog for walk, or simply observing things around which also helps them to have a great insight and learn about human behaviour.
