Piyanshu is a 21-year-old student pursuing his Bachelor of Technology from DA-IICT. He is currently doing an internship in Ahmedabad. Piyanshu also loves to write poetry and play tennis, which he pursues in his free time.
He was born and brought up in a small town, Palanpur, in Gujarat. Being the only child of his parents, Piyanshu explains that he has consistently received the support of his parents in everything he took up, from his studies to his passion.
He recollects being a curious kid in school who loved learning new things. His mother was a mathematics teacher, so Piyanshu was also interested in the subject. He fondly remembers his mother teaching him the shapes of objects when he was a kid and holds the memories close to his heart. She always made efforts to make learning easy and practical for Piyanshu.
When Piyanshu left home for college, he faced some challenges. He found the curriculum to be not very practical but heavily theoretical. Despite being interested in the subjects, he couldn’t understand them well, which affected his grades. Eventually, these issues also started affecting his placements in college.
“I saw people who weren’t even interested in the course get good opportunities while I couldn’t secure any. It made me feel something was wrong with me and pushed me towards anger, jealousy and discomfort.”
Piyanshu was aware of his college’s subscription to the YourDOST platform and went through the website. He found most of the self-help resources helpful. He decided to give counseling a try as well and started taking chat sessions with the experts available.

He explains that the sessions felt beneficial to him as the counselor carefully listened to everything he had to say, and he could share openly with her. He also liked how they gave him a positive conclusion after every session.
Piyanshu elaborates that the counselor helped him with scenarios from his past that made him feel bitter about people. He adds that he used to think one of his friends didn’t deserve a good placement because he took the easy and short route.
“For me, the shortcuts were like cheating; my counselor corrected those discrepancies in my mind and taught me what reality was.”
He explains that the sessions were not just helpful in improving himself but also made him happy, as he could express his thoughts to someone. Piyanshu adds that when things weren’t great in life, he really needed a win and could find that through counseling.
He says he is grateful to his counselor and expresses how helpful the platform was to Piyanshu, as the experts were available even at odd hours.
As Piyanshu works on his mental well-being each day, he rates himself 4 out of 5. We wish him all the best for his future and are happy to be part of his journey.
Piyanshu’s Warrior tips:
1.“Focus on your efforts to feel content, not the results.”
2.“Be dedicated to where you stand, and don’t bother about people around you.”
