“Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart.”

Pandemic – every time we hear it, we immediately recall the experiences that it has put us all through. For some, the pandemic brought uncertainty, a new normal, an online routine but there have also been those for whom, it brought sudden grief that changed their lives forever.

Yes, there were many who lost their loved ones to the destructive coronavirus, a pain that’s beyond one’s imagination. One such courageous soul is Srikanth, a 35-year-old employee from Amara Raja, a conglomerates firm in India, who lost his mother to the deadly virus and continues to live his life as a true warrior –

“Losing my mother was a hard blow to my mental health. She had been our pillar of support since we were children. I was raised in a family with strong familial relationships and the pandemic was an unexpected time in my life.”

Born and raised in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, both of Srikanth’s parents were working individuals and his father was a Police Officer who kept himself busy with his job and did not spend a lot of time with the family. His mother on the other hand showered her kids with love and support. The bond they shared with their mother was special and she was a role model for the family.

I was at my lowest point during this time, I could not imagine my life without my mother. She was my hero and inspiration to live life.

Her sudden passing pushed Srikanth into a depressive spiral so bad that he even contemplated suicide.

I was at my lowest point during this time, I could not imagine my life without my mother. She was my hero and inspiration to live life. But after losing her, I lost a part of myself and contemplated ending my life.

Srikanth’s colleagues noticed the behavioural changes and encouraged him to seek support with YourDOST.

“I took two sessions with the YourDOST expert and began to feel better. They filled me with hope to continue living again and I saw myself feeling a lot happier. I spend a lot of time with the people around me and cherish the experience I have with them.”

Srikanth is doing great after his sessions. He has recovered from his depressive moods and now spends a lot of time with his family. Srikanth is able to spend more time with his children and is an active part oftheir lives. Due to the lockdown, he spends his time teaching his children with the online resources available.
