Digvijay is an 18-year-old student from DAIICT, Gandhinagar. He is pursuing his bachelor’s in Technology, specialising in computer science.
He comes from Bhavnagar and grew up with his brother in his uncle’s house, as his parents passed away when he was a kid. Digvijay used to rely on his friends for emotional support throughout his school life, as he felt more comfortable with them.
His best friend, Ayush, is also pursuing a B.Tech in computer science at a different university. They have been friends since 6th grade. When Ayush was preparing for his college entrance exams, Digvijay came to know that some of the students were bullying Ayush.
Even though it was affecting his mental health and academics, he didn’t do anything about it as he was a shy and introverted person. Digvijay did not know how to help except to offer moral support. Eventually, both of them cleared the exams and got into different universities.
Later, Digvijay realised that Ayush was still experiencing trauma from his past. He started feeling that even his college classmates were trying to bully him. Uncertain whether Ayush felt that way due to the trauma or if the situation was tough for him, Digvijay suggested that he seek help from a professional.
“From where we come from, seeking a therapist is not common, and people don’t understand the concept of mental health. Given that my friend was already shy and had communication issues, physically going to therapy wasn’t ideal.”
Digvijay knew that his college had a subscription to the YourDOST platform, which allows all students to access their resources for free. He thought it could be a good start and nominated Ayush to sit for a few sessions as the platform allows the clients to nominate two dependents.
Digvijay adds that Ayush couldn’t get acquainted with many people when he joined college and felt his responsibility was to help and guide him towards the light of hope.

“My friend is extremely hardworking and patient, but he cannot be assertive and socialise easily. I thought that rather than me giving advice, an experienced expert advice would be the right thing.
He explains that Ayush’s academic performance had also begun to deteriorate due to his issues. As Ayush started seeking the help he needed, Digvijay felt grateful to the YourDOST platform and the therapist for reaching out to teenagers who have to understand the importance of mental health and seeking therapy.
“The online mode of counseling on the platform is beneficial for people like my friend who cannot afford private practices or travel to physical therapy every day.”
Digvijay rates Ayush’s overall well-being as 2 out of 5, and he continues to help his friend become a better version of himself every day. We wish both of them all the best and hope they succeed in their lives.
Digvijay’s Warrior Tips:
1.“We all have just one life, so when there is a problem, seek the right kind of help.”
2.“Ignore the negative comments from people; focus on yourself and give your best.”
