Here’s How Priti’s Journey Through Therapy Unveiled The Power Of Perspective.

Priti, a 22-year-old program manager, is a bright and expressive individual. She was born and raised in Delhi, the city where every corner has a story to tell. 

Coming from a family of five, Priti mentions her childhood was bright and cheerful. She radiates a brilliant light of creativity as a performer and loves to sing, act, and dance. She also enjoys sketching in her free time, as it is another art form that allows her to truly express herself. 

“I loved going to school as a kid. It was my happy place as my teachers loved me, and I enjoyed participating in many extracurricular activities.” 

Having an art form to express your creativity is so important to embrace your unique perspective on the world. When we tap into our creative expression, we embrace a channel to create more joy. 

For Priti, this joy came from her extracurricular activities. It gave her confidence, courage, and most importantly, it made her happy. 

“Things were rather smooth sailing for me until I had to shift from school to college. That was a very difficult transition for me.” 

Our college years are the ones that truly challenge our perspectives on life. From adjusting to a completely different environment to embracing new relationships and responsibilities, this transition comes with its perks and hardships. 

Priti reveals that though she enjoyed college, she had a constant fear of what was coming next. She felt overwhelmed with the decisions that she had to make about her future. 

“I felt so confused whenever I thought about the future. The uncertainty of not knowing what to do made me panic, and it even started to affect me physically.” 

She mentions that she started to feel so anxious that it manifested itself in her physical well-being too. She faced a lot of health complications and even required surgery.

Priti’s family was very worried for her health and wanted to do whatever they could to help her. Her older brother’s company, Coinswitch had a partnership with YourDOST and as a result, he suggested that she reach out to a counselor. 

She decided that it was time for her to slow down, and gather all the support she could. With her brother’s help, she booked her first counseling session with Ms. Sarah.

“Ms. Sarah advised that I try meditating twice a day. I still continue to practice this activity as it helped me ground myself.”

Journaling is another technique that was suggested to Priti by her counselor. The beauty of journaling is that there is absolutely no right or wrong way to do it. It’s a process of reflection, and giving your future self the greatest gift of seeing how far you’ve come. 

“Therapy is all about making a choice to look at things differently. I’m so grateful to Ms. Sarah for helping me accept the things that have happened. I feel so much more excited about the future now.” 

With grace and strength, she strives to be consistent with following the techniques that her counselor suggested. She rates herself a 4 out of 5 in terms of feeling better and looks forward to a future filled with learning experiences.
