I recently just started my first job ever in retail and I’ve only been working there for a little over a month. I was diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa a week after hire.
I’ve had symptoms for almost a month prior to being hired, but the medicine I had received helped me for a small period of time until I started getting flareups like crazy. I even switched medicines, but it seemed to only make my symptoms worse. After my first week of work I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Hidradenitis Supparativa. This past month I have been learning about this condition, I have been taking antibiotics and topicals, but nothing had seem to be helping me and I would always go to work in excruciating pain and leave work nearly limping because it hurt too much to walk. I have done every remedy in the book to help cope and relieve the pain, but nothing has been working. It’s become to the point where I never go outside unless its for work. I can’t last two hours out without being in pain! It’s become so debilitating not only physically, but mentally too. The symptoms get worse each day and I can’t remember a time this month where I could walk properly. It’s really embarrassing, this is my first job and I m really young so I don’t know how to bring this issue up to my boss and what to do. I have several appointments scheduled for treatments but work is getting in the way.
I want to leave my job because I feel like I need quite a bit a time to regroup and better my mental health, but also my physical health and get proper treatment, but I’m not sure if thats the right thing to do. I don’t believe I’m eligible for leave either because I haven’t worked for long. I have been doing nothing but crying everyday when I come home from work and it feels like it’s doing more harm then good.
