Touching our elder's feet has been an Indian tradition as a sign to show respect towards our elders and asking for blessings.
Some years back, I had major issues in life and I tried to seek my elder's advice and help. But none, no one among them could give me right advice or help me out of my situation. On the contrary they said wrong and bad things about me. Eventually, It was God's teachings and payers that helped me come out of that hellish situation.
After that experience, I have stopped bending down to touch elder's feet. Though I show sign of respect and say "Namaste" but don't touch their feet as others do.
I believe that respect has to be earned and not taken for granted.
Though I have developed this belief and I wanted to know if I am wrong in my thinking.
