As your friend is under some kind of pressure, it is best to give him some space for now. Let him figure out what are his priorities. In the meantime you could also do some deep thinking... is it just infatuation, or is there more. Try to get a better understanding of your own feelings towards him, and where you would like this to go. With a clearer vision you will be able to approach your friend in a calmer manner.
