Be very thorough with your basic books which includes ncerts and your school level refreshers.
You have to read some higher level books say iit physics & chemistry,and topics secific books for bio,AFTER MASTERING YOUR BASIC BOOKS(theory, examples,problems and mcqs done). This helps in achieving a deeper understanding and application of concepts.
You have to be very thorough with all the mcqs,and based on them the topics, that have been repeated previously. It is specifically for these topics you need to refer to the higher books

Last but not the least you have to work immensely hard and be very regular with studies.
Some tips for this:Study ahead of curriculum.Finish entire 11th & 12th syllabus in 11th itself,revise again in 12th and then start preparing for boards.
One small tip is that always make a separate notebook of important points and keep on revising those, whenever you've small breaks, even while traveling.
