Hi, Naira I guess we are in same boat. I can very well relate to you.As people say family and friend supports but actually its adverse. They only mock and get irritated by us and irritate us as well as after completing graduation ,as per society norms, you are not eligible to sit at home "idle".Yes,exactly, studying for competitive exams is considered as idle behaviour both by society and industry. Our family do want us to crack the exam but not ready to support as they wish this should be done in one shot.Anyway, this is the situation and one has to deal with it.Now coming back to your competitive exams, they are damn tough.People go through question paper and as it look similar to what already been studied in school is considered a lallu exam.Even few think that it can be done with the job as well.I agree but partially,it depends on nature of job.If your job require intensive travelling and gruelling bench job, literally you cannot study after reaching home and if office is at a good distance the travel fatigue only adds to it.Now,it is expected us to be able to compete and win with a guy who had been only focusing in studies for last few months compared to you where you can barely study on usual days or only on weekend. Now imagine even on weekend you are cut off with the friends as you have to have to dedicate 10 hours to atleast reach to the time lost during weekdays.Result your friends to will begin to loose you considering you don't have time. There are few who can do it but exceptions are always there.
Now in a situation where ,if you are only studying, still people can't clear exams, reasons, they study someday like topper and other day they do only fun activities like hanging with friends and stuff. So reason 1 for not qualifying is INCONSISTENCY or LACK OF DISCIPLINE. Now,few people are way too disciplined and cut from social contacts of all type, these are the ones who choke up at interviews because lack of social activities and communication make you UNDER CONFIDENT when it comes to public speaking or interview ,why?Because speaking, and speaking sense itself is an art and skill and if you don't regularly sharpen your skill it gets blunt.Reason 3,giving too many exams.Yes the case probably with you I guess.Too many exams only adds to burden and makes you DIRECTION-LESS.Its like buying one flight ticket and one train ticket and since both reached your destination you brought both. But as both departs at same time first you rush to flight as it reaches fast but you were late for check-in and flight flew away and then you rush for railway terminal only to be caught up in traffic and missing it too.The point is,though the exams look similar they are not. Each exam require different strategy and planning. Now you may argue that syllabus is ALMOST common. If that is an argument, just google the syllabus for IBPS,SSC CGL ,SBI,CAT,XAT.Now you will clearly see the difference and similarities in syllabus but only as name of chapters.Lets talk differences first. The IBPS had majority of DI in Maths,SBI has equal weightage to quant and DI.while in CAT everything is equally distributed and in SSC Geometry part leads.Similarly you can find difference with reasoning and english as well.GK part is different depending on exams feild. Now similarities.Just check out the questions of commom syllabus, you will find that though they are similar they level of questions are different. In ibps the questions are direct formula based,in ssc its calculative and little tisting while in CAT its blend of all levels. So,minds get confused and start to mix the things.Like I gave SBI Mains and since SBI focuses on mainly DI my maths preparation was totally inclined to it but I have exam on 9th for SSC.As my geometry is extremely strong since school days I may pull off but its giving me goose bump to prepare it within span of 9 days.It all happenned as I didn't expected the earlier daye.
Anyway, the point is every syllabus is different and so is the approach. You have to focus and discipline yourself.Leave what your parents think or say.I know its tough to close your ears when people comment but just remind yourself that once you are through, these very people will look at you differently. Try finding out why ain't you scoring enough to clear exam.If required join coaching TO STUDY(not for making friends).Like minded people add to motivation. You will find many stories where people do it in last attempt and after lot of struggle.Take inspiration from them. You are dumbo if you accept it. Remember you require 99 strokes couldn't break the coconut the 100th will and you require only that "one" strike to break it.
So,stop worrying about whatever people around is nagging about you.You are responsible for yourself.Get you ass up,head high and make up your mind either you will clear these exam or you will clear these exams.Yes that means you will clear the exam.Believe in your mind first.People don't have any work so keep judging others.Focus on what you want.Guess you must have seen the trailer of movie Manjhi. That fellow made a path out of mountain with just hammer with out worrying about people calling him mad, nutty and without helping him. You have more than hammer,a pen ,a paper, books, internet(if properly used) and yourself with your mind and determination of steel(unbreakable). What else you want? Get up,gear up prepare for next exam, next battle like that is the only thing left for you in this world else you will have to sleep in gutter with torn clothes. How bad you want to succeed? You alone have to fight and win .Believe my my friend, and you alone are more than enough.
A fellow competitor (:P)
And a friend.
