In the staple mythology of Silicon Valley, college dropout turned entrepreneur is very common and trend now-a-days, Indian students seems to be inspired by this fables are dropping from college more and more every year. Earlier today during Loksabha question hour, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani informed \u201cAs many as 2,060 students dropped out from various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) from 2012-13 to 2014-15. During this three-year period, 2,352 students dropped out from the National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The reasons for dropouts may be attributed to shifting to other colleges\/institutions, personal reasons, medical reasons, getting jobs during PG courses, inability to cope with academic stress etc.\u201d<\/span>

Though the government and college authorities says that there are various mechanisms for helping students to cope with stress it is evident that they are not sufficient. Nearly 6 out of 10 students who drop from college are due to high stress and lack of emotional support. This issue should be considered seriously and all available options should be explored thoroughly.
