Almost everyone lacks self-esteem, even the people who appear to be the most confident. This arises from feeling like we have failed to achieve a certain standard, set either by society or ourselves and it\u2019s a perpetual internal struggle. I, personally, see myself as someone with a low self-esteem, so I write this article in the hope that it\u2019ll help all those who read it and maybe, just maybe, I\u2019ll learn something too. So, here goes nothing!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Stop criticizing yourself:<\/b> We\u2019re our own harshest critics, so give yourself some leeway to make mistakes. Everyone has some faults, learn to accept that. It\u2019s the first step to happiness.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Don\u2019t compare yourself to others:<\/b> Every person is unique, and everyone has their strengths. Don\u2019t judge yourself by someone else yardstick. You have some qualities that others don\u2019t, that they covet. Focus on that.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Focus on the wins:<\/b> It\u2019s good to take time and celebrate your achievements, however small they may appear. One thing I learned from a wee little show called Glee is that, \u201cFrom small things, big things one day come.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Exercise:<\/b> Most of the self-esteem issues arise from being unsatisfied with our physical appearance and body language. This is something which can be improved through exercising regularly. It\u2019ll convert you into a negative person, which is no good for anyone.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Concentrate on the things within your control:<\/b> We all have a habit of agonizing ourselves over things that we can\u2019t quite control. Instead of worrying about them, focus on things that you CAN control. Learn to let go of what you don\u2019t have any influence over.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Do things you enjoy:<\/b> Having hobbies is extremely important for having a healthy self-esteem. An empty mind is the devil\u2019s workshop. When you\u2019re alone and feeling vulnerable, that is when negative thoughts creep in. So instead of letting that happen, read a book, listen to music or work on something that interests you. Just don\u2019t sit idle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"background-color: white; margin-left: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24.7333px;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; color: black; line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>Be kinder to others:<\/b> When you\u2019re kind to others and make someone else happy, you\u2019ll feel good about yourself.
