Every now and then, we have heard this quote <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cmultitasking is a myth\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but still, with each passing day we\u2019re forced to do something beyond our control. But, why? Just to fit into the societal standards? To make others happy and content, we might miss out on taking care of ourselves. It\u2019s about time we bust the myth bubble of multitasking and prioritise our mental health! For 23-year-old Rachana, the understanding and prioritisation of mental health have come from a young age.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born and brought up in a joint family, made Rachana a highly sheltered child. From a young age, she\u2019d been facing troubles with her younger sister. Working as a developer, Rachana often neglected house chores, which did not bother her much. Until the covid-19 lockdown was imposed and she was forced to be at her home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMy family members started taunting me to pay more attention to household work but I couldn&#8217;t manage to do both. I used to take everything on my mind and that led me to distance myself from them.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rachana has always been an introvert, which led her to bottle her emotions and not be comfortable around others while discussing her personal issues. She recognised that things are not going the way it\u2019s supposed to and soon, she decided to change that.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17097 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/yourdost.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Rachana-innerimage1.png\" alt=\"After recognising the issues, Rachana took a step forward to be an even better version of herself by taking up counseling. \" width=\"1250\" height=\"654\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1250px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1250\/654;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After recognising the issues, Rachana took a step forward to be an even better version of herself by taking up counseling. Rachana\u2019s organisation has partnered with YourDOST as their emotional wellness coach. As soon as Rachana decided to take up counseling, she reached out to YourDOST. Like many of us, she too, was skeptical about how the process will turn out for her.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen I told my mother about YourDOST she was surprised how my company can take care of the counseling fees. So I talked with one of the experts from YourDOST and told my mother that it\u2019s completely on the organisation and I will get the counseling for free!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rachana\u2019s mother was rejoiced upon learning the accessibility and anonymity provided by YourDOST and so, Rachana started her counseling journey. Rachana got connected with Ms Ishita Atrri, an expert from YourDOST.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have a hard time trusting people. So, when I got connected with Ishita, it was tough for me to open up to her immediately.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rachana was hesitant to open up to Ishita, but thanks to Ishita\u2019s supportive and interactive nature &#8211; Rachana was able to break out of her shell and started discussing her issues with Ishita. Rachana explained all of her issues to Ishita and how taking things to her mind has been hampering her work life too. When Ishita used to ask Rachana something which would trigger her, she thought to herself, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHow can she ask me that out of nowhere?\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. But Rachana remained patient and accepted counseling as a slow process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17099 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/yourdost.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Rachana-innerimage2.png\" alt=\"Upon close observation by Ishita, she understood that Rachana might be keeping her emotions buried inside of her instead of letting them out. \" width=\"1250\" height=\"654\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1250px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1250\/654;\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIshita suggested to me that I should practise self-talking and self-assessment. I was also told to do a guided meditation. All of these techniques helped me deeply.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon close observation by Ishita, she understood that Rachana might be keeping her emotions buried inside of her instead of letting them out. Hence, she suggested to Rachana to indulge in self-talks and self-assessments, which in fact, helped her to face her issues in an objective manner. The guided meditation technique suggested by Ishita also helped Rachana very well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #808080;\">Guided meditation describes a form of meditation that utilizes a number of different techniques to achieve or enhance the meditative state. It helps in relaxation and a stress-free mental state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rachana was taken aback to see how many positive changes she encountered by actively working on herself through counseling! Once unable to take any decision, now Rachana proves it wrong. Rachana not only learned how to control her overthinking tendencies but also started enjoying and embracing life at its fullest. She\u2019s finally able to multitask, without compromising on herself or her me time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17246 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/yourdost.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Rachana-innerimage3.png\" alt=\"Rachana feels grateful to Ishita for her inspiring and practical guidance. \" width=\"1250\" height=\"654\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1250px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1250\/654;\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m happy to be able to do multiple tasks at once. I feel relaxed now. My personality has changed for good, thorough counseling. I rarely get bothered by other members\u2019 taunts and I personally take interest in doing other things.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rachana feels grateful to Ishita for her inspiring and practical guidance. Rachana\u2019s main issue about having a bittersweet relationship with her sister has improved by a significant level. She feels that counseling is not just for someone with major issues, and she urges everyone to give counseling a chance rather than keeping emotions bottled up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Summarising her counseling experience, Rachana says, <\/span><b>\u201ccounseling made me learn how to multitask without compromising my own priorities\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and we couldn&#8217;t be more proud of her! Rachana was once told by someone about how counseling is only for people with mental disorders. But now, after learning so much about counseling and seeing positive changes in her, Rachana takes pride in advocating mental health!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m glad I took counseling, because now I know what I feel and what I want to do, and I rarely pay attention to what others might feel.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a fun rapid-fire round with YourDOST, Rachana rated herself a strong 4.5 out of 5 in terms of getting better and feels elated to be able to trust someone like Ishita.
