In this very challenging job market, even the man\u2019s best friend has not been able to escape the cruel clutches of layoffs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meet Gavel. Gavel is a German Shepherd who was recruited by the Queensland police in Australia, to become a police dog, when he was a little puppy. Unfortunately, Gavel, as the police put it \u201cdid not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Turns out, Gavel was too friendly. He absolutely loved meeting strangers. He prefered playing with them to helping arrest them. Awww. <\/span><\/p>\n

AND THE MONSTERS FIRED HIM FOR THAT! \ud83d\ude41<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey fired me for making friends, this world is heartless\u201d *sad woof*<\/span><\/p>\n

That was the end of Gavel\u2019s stint with law enforcement. But it wasn\u2019t the end of his career. The Governor of Queensland, Paul de Jersey, saw merit in Gavel\u2019s \u201cshortcomings\u201d, and decided to hire him for a new job.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019d like to introduce *drum roll* –<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGavel – the Vice-Regal Dog\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, that\u2019s his actual official title.<\/strong> As the Vice-Regal dog, Gavel\u2019s duties include greeting visitors at the Queensland’s Government House, and attending official functions with Governor Paul de Jersey. He also occasionally accompanies the Governor during his briefings.<\/p>\n

Gavel\u2019s story is an adorably excellent example of the fact that getting fired doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s the end of the world. Your qualities define you, not your job loss.<\/span><\/p>\n
