Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn’t know you had and dealing with fears you didn’t know existed. -Linda Wooten
Being a mother can be a fresh experience every day. The postpartum period brings about several mental and physical changes to mothers. It also teaches mothers to look after the newborn. While taking care of the baby, you should not neglect your health. Mothers need to take good care of themselves to rebuild their strength. In order to look after their baby properly, the mother needs to be healthy themselves.

Here are ways in which you can be a healthy & fit mother:

1. Follow a routine:

Planning your tasks and creating a routine will help you know your priorities. You need not give up on your health because of something else. It will make you look forward to the next day. In order to be healthy, you need to plan how to be productive and healthy at the same time.

2. Prioritise exercise:

When you have a routine, you can prioritise exercise without giving up on other tasks. To be a healthy mother, you would not want to give excuses when it comes to exercise. Exercise also maintains in boosting your mood and reducing anxiety & stress.

3. Eat right:

Pregnancy and birth bring about several changes in your body. To recover you need to maintain a healthy diet. You must have nutritional food including balanced servings of vegetables, fruits, grains, protein and dairy. You can plan to have simple, but healthy meals in your routine.

4. Healthy style of eating:

After a tiresome day, sitting on a sofa in front of the T.V., holding a plate with food seems like the most comfortable thing to do. But a research by Harvard Medical School concludes that distracted eating can lead to weight gain. Also, dining on a table with the family helps in building stronger relationships.

5. Don’t forget to rest:

This is something mothers usually forget to do. With the responsibility of the baby being prioritised you. may feel resting is not necessary. But, in real, lack of sleep can result in poor eating habits, fatigue and increased stress. You must sleep and relax for at least 6-8 hours in the night to fuel yourself to kickstart the day from the morning.
